Mirai XLE leads the pack with an EPA-estimated range of 402 miles, 183 while Mirai Limited has an impressive 357-mile EPA-estimated range rating 181 after a quick fill-up. Enhancing both cornering and acceleration, Mirai’s premium rear-wheel-drive platform is engineered to make you want to take the long way home. With every twist and turn, you’ll fall in love with driving all over again.
At the core of Mirai, hydrogen from the fuel tank and air entering from the intake grille meet in the Fuel Cell Stack. There, a chemical reaction involving the oxygen in the air and hydrogen creates electricity—powering Mirai. In the end, the only by-product is water. Refueling Mirai is simple. There’s a pump and a nozzle, just like at a gasoline station. As you pump in the hydrogen, it travels to carbon-fiber-reinforced fuel tanks where it’s stored. After around five minutes, you’ll be ready to hit the road.
Mirai’s Hybrid Battery Pack complements its Fuel Cell Stack by assisting in acceleration and regenerative braking. Similar to other Toyota Hybrids, Mirai’s hybrid battery comes with a 10-year/150,000-mile warranty. 140 It also has an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on key Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) components including the air compressor, boost converter and hydrogen tanks. Knowing you’re covered, you can drive with added peace of mind.
